1. Gantt Toolbar

The Gantt Toolbar is located at the bottom of the Gantt Page.

Click the arrow to minimize the Gantt Toolbar.

Zoom in and out of the Gantt using the Zoom Bar.

Click the Print Button to go to the Print Gantt Page.

The red Clash Ticker on the Gantt Toolbar indicates the number of unresolved clashes. Click on the Clash Button to open the Clash Window.

The red Status Ticker on the Gantt Toolbar indicates the number of activity work days in need of assigning a status. Click on the the Status Button to open the Status Center.

2. Add and Modify Rows on your Gantt

On the left of the Gantt is the Activities Details Panel, this is where you can view details of rows on your Gantt and add, delete, rename, clone and convert activities to and from headers and subheaders.

To add rows to your Gantt click the Add Row Button at the bottom of the Activity Details Panel, enter a row name and press Enter. The new row will appear under the row that is selected within the Activity Details Panel. If no row is selected then the new row will appear at the top of your section of the Gantt.

To rename a row, double click on the row's name, enter the new row name and click on the Tick.

Click the Three Dots on the right of each row on the Activity Details Panel to open the Activity Options Menu.

On the Activity Options Menu you can;

  • Open Activity Details - open the Activity Details Window

  • Clone Activity - clone the selected activity

  • Convert to Header - convert the selected row from an activity to a header

  • Indent Activity - indent the selected activity under the above header

  • Outdent Activity - outdent the selected activity

  • Delete Activity - delete the selected row

On the Header Options Menu you can;

  • Indent Header - indent the selected header under the above header, creating a sub-header

  • Outdent Header - outdent the selected header

  • Convert To Activity - convert the selected row from a header to an activity

  • Delete Header - delete the selected row

Please note that selecting Delete Header or Delete Activity is a hard delete and you will lose any data associated with that row. Aphex do not store any project information and data associated with a deleted item will be irretrievable.

To reset your headers and activities into a chronological order, select Reset Sorting in the Options Menu to the right of your User Row.

Activities can be moved and nested under headers, and subheaders can be created by nesting headers under other headers. To move a row, click and drag the Six Dots on the left of each row’s name.

You can hide rows on the Gantt by clicking the Hide Rows Button on the left of a Header or Subheader name on the Activity Details Panel.

You can add additional columns to the Activity Details Panel by clicking on the Columns Drop-down and selecting one or more of the columns you would like to appear on the Activity Details Panel.

You can add a comment to an activity by selecting Comment in the Columns Drop-down and then clicking on an activity row to create a comment.


3. Activity Details

To move an Activity Bar, click and drag it along the Gantt.

To resize an Activity Bar, click and drag the Three Dots on the right of the Activity Bar.

Double click on an Activity Bar to open the Activity Details Window.

On the Activity Details Window you can modify all activity details;

  • Activity Name

  • Activity Start and End Date

  • Work Week

  • Work Hours

  • Subcontractor


4. Activity Location

To open the Activity Location Window, click the Locations Button on the left of the Activity Details Window to view and modify an activity work area.

Select a Location Drawing from the Location Drop-down Menu - these locations have been pre-loaded by the project admin.

Scroll with your mouse to zoom in and out, or click and drag to move around the Location Drawing and when you are ready to draw a work area click on the Create New Box or Create New Polygon Buttons.

When creating a box work area click on your Location Drawing to mark the first and then the last corner of your box. When creating a polygon work area click on your Location Drawing to mark each corner of your work area.

You can edit or delete a work area by selecting it and clicking the Edit or Delete Selected Work Area Buttons.

If your activity does not require a work area, you can select the No Work Area Required Check-box.

Don't forget to click Save when you are done editing your activity details and work area!


5. Resources

To add Resources to an activity open the Activity Details Window and tick the Resources Required Check-box.

Once you have ticked the Check-box, click the Save Changes Button to access the Resources Window.

In the Resources Window, you can assign Resources to an activity;

  • Plant
  • Labour

You can use the search function at the top of the Resources Window to help you find the Plant or Labour Resource that you are looking for.

You can expand or hide the Plant and Labour options using the arrow button.

To add a Plant you must select a Type from the drop-down box.

You can then enter the required amount of the Plant Type. Use the arrows within the field to add or subtract the required amount of resource.

Adding Resources

Once you have Once you have entered the amount, click the Add button to assign it to your activity.

To assign Labour to an activity, enter the required amount and then click the Add button.

To view Resources in the Gantt, select Resources from the View Drop-down on the Gantt Toolbar.

When viewing Resources in the Gantt, you can visibly see the Resources that have been assisnged to activities.

In the Resources View, you can generate a histogram of your Resources by clicking the Generate Histogram button.

The histogram will give you a breakdown of your allocated Resources.

6. Quants

To add Quants to an activity open the Activity Details Window and tick the Quants Required Check-box.

Once you have ticked the Check-box, click the Save Changes Button to access the Quants Window.

In the Quants Window, you can modify the Quants details;

  • Material Name
  • Total Quantity
  • Unit Type
  • Daily Units allocation

The allocation of Daily Units will be automatically generated upon entering the Total Quantity. If you wish to customise the Daily Unit, you can amend the automated figure by clicking on the Daily Unit Box and entering a new figure.

Please note that you will be unable to save any changes to the Daily Units if the total amount of Daily Units does not match the Total Quantity.

To view Quants in the Gantt, select Quants from the View Drop-down on the Gantt Toolbar.

When viewing Quants in the Gantt, you can visibly see the Completed Quantity against the Planned Quantity.

Icons on the left-hand side of an Activity Bar will indicate the Status State of the Activity;

  • Activities Behind Schedule will be marked with a downward facing arrow
  • Activities Ahead of Schedule will be marked with an upward facing arrow
  • Activities On Schedule will be marked with a tick
  • Completed activities will be marked with a tick if they are in the past and an upward facing arrow if they are Ahead of Schedule.

Quants

Please note that once you have Statused a quantity against an Activity Day, you will no longer be able to amend the Daily Unit of that day.

Days that have been statused will appear grey in the Quants Window.

Please note that if you need to extend the duration of an activity in order to complete the Total Quantity, you should allocate zero units to the additional day. This will ensure that all units are correctly allocated and allow you to proceed with saving your changes.


7. Clash

On the Homepage, clashes are listed on the Clashes Table.

To view and address these clashes on the Gantt's Clash Detector, click View in Gantt.

On the Gantt, the red Clash Ticker on the Planner Toolbar indicates the number of unresolved clashes. Click on the Clash Button to open the Clash Detector.

You can switch between viewing unresolved clashes and non-conflicting clashes by clicking the Unresolved Clashes and Non-Conflicting Clashes Buttons at the top of the Clash Detector.

On the Clash Detector you can see a list of clashing activities. Click on one of the clashes to view more details.

You can re-order the sequence of your clashing activities by clicking the Make Priority Button. Click Save to resolve the clash and create a logic link between the two activities.

Click the Non-Conflicting Clash Check-box to mark a clash as non-conflicting. You can view the details of non-conflicting clashes by clicking Non-Conflicting Clashes on the top level of the Clash Detector.
